Are you trying to live sustainably and develop green-living habits? Join us as Aaron McCarty, of Carolina Bamboo, explores bamboo as a universal material and super plant. You’ll discover uses and growing techniques. Ages 18+. Free and open to the public at The Inman Library.
Bamboo can be used as animal fodder, crafts, wind blocks, erosion control, landscape beautification and much, much more. Come learn how to love, and yes, how to control Bamboo.
Aaron has extensive knowledge about bamboo and is a former student of Keiji Oshima of Haiku Bamboo Nursery in Hendersonville, NC. He will provide a live demonstration of how to split a whole cane of bamboo using a traditional Japanese Blade. There are also whispers of him possibly playing a Shakuhachi flute instrument made entirely from bamboo.
