1. Discussion and Q&A Session: We will begin this class at the Imagery meeting cabin with a one hour presentation about the history of Bamboo and Kudzu in America.  This discussion will include the history of the canebrakes, indigenous management and uses, the toll of European settlement and the decline and extinction of many species of wildlife.  We will also discuss facts about Kudzu, known as “The vine that ate the South.”  Both bamboo and kudzu were heavily promoted by the U.S. Government during the 1930s Dust Bowl for erosion control before it became an invasive pest.  We will discuss the uses of both plants, as well as how to manage and control these invasive plants. 
   MAX CAPACITY: Community members may join the discussion at no cost until the room is full.  Please refer to the event coordinator for maximum occupancy of the Meeting Cabin.  No sign ups are required for the discussion portion of this event.

2.  KuBoo (Kudzu and Bamboo) Basket Weaving:  Get wild and embrace the invasives in this kudzu/bamboo= “KuBoo” Basket Weaving class! Get to know split bamboo and kudzu as weaving materials. Learn how to harvest and strip a kudzu vine. Engage with refined, hand-crafted split bamboo. Weave the Kudzu and Bamboo together to create your own personalized and unique KuBoo basket.
   MAX CAPACITY:  10 Community Members.  Participants MUST pay to attend this portion of the event.

   Cost: $50-130 per participant. Participants MUST be members of the Imagery 55+ Community to attend either of these Private Events.

Note:  This fee includes both the Discussion and the KuBoo Basket Weaving Class.  We can not offer discounts if you can only attend one event on the scheduled date.
