Bamboo “Split Kit”

Are you interested in crafting or weaving with split bamboo? Our bamboo split kit includes hand-split bamboo segments. All included splits were created using a traditional Japanese spitting blade. This kit is recommended for anyone interested in working with all parts of a bamboo cane.

Description

Our split kit features a minimum of 10 pieces of split bamboo. Each split kit will offer hand-split bamboo for anyone interested in bamboo crafting. Sizes will vary. The contents of each kit will vary in length, thickness, species and width. Each split will be a minimum of 36 inches long. Width will vary from 0.7 millimeters to 1 centimeter. We will include variations we have in stock. Common variations include:

Yellow/Cured Skin– Bamboo that no longer has any water left in the cane and has turned the tan/yellow color you’re used to seeing with bamboo flooring, utensils, cutting boards, etc.
Leopard Print Skin– We grow a variety of bamboo that when cut fresh is green with brown spots and when cured, turns yellow with brown spots.
Heat Treated Skin– We cut a green cane and heat treat it to include green, yellow and brown coloration. We can create stripes or polka dots/spots with this method.
Green Skin– Freshly harvested, cleaned and split!
No Skin– This is the interior, woody part of a bamboo cane. There will be no shiny outer skin. The coloring would be a light tan/yellow
